Alaska halibut fishing facts! |

|
Successful halibut fishing is almost as dependent on the sport fisherman as it is on Captain Mark and his crew. If you want to catch fish you need to be alert and recognize when you have a halibut sniffing around your bait or jig. Successful halibut fishermen are on their fishing rods at all times, they are working their bait on the bottom where the halibut are lying. If you are a first time halibut fisherman, Captain Mark or the crew members are more than glad to show you the proper and effective halibut fishing techniques. While the statistics show that the average size halibut caught on a sport fishing charter out of Homer, Alaska is about 37 pounds in a typical fishing season, the Northern Lights has taken sport caught halibut up to 385 pounds and having several fish in the 100-200 pound class per charter fishing trip on the Northern Lights is not uncommon. |
